19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
